The Party's Over!

Things with Ollie are still chugging along.  Ollie doesn't have another appointment until 4 months, but I weighed him yesterday and he's about 14.5 lbs now.  He still continues to be pretty pleasant during the day, and smiles and talks with people.  He's also discovered the TV (and is now glued to it whenever it's on!), and has started to notice his feet when he's in his car seat (although, I don't think he's made the connection yet that they are his...haha).  We're having problems with him sleeping though.  We have a hard time getting him to nap during the day, and if he does nap, we're lucky to get him to sleep for more than 30-60 min.  As a result, he's happiest in the morning and steadily deteriorates until his super cranky time between 7 and 9 pm when we try to get him to go to sleep at night.  Once he's asleep at night, he tends to sleep for about 3 hours for the first stretch, and after that it's variable.  If we're lucky, he'll go another 3 hour chunk, but sometimes only 2 hours or less.  Then of course, once the sun is up around 5:30 am, he's up.

After trying to get him to fall asleep tonight for about an hour, doing everything we could think of, we gave up at about 9:15 and for the first time are letting him try to just cry it out.  So far he's been going strong for about 20 minutes with no signs of stopping.  (The boy has perseverance, we'll give him that!!)  We'll see how that goes...  But he needs to learn to get to sleep!  Especially since I am starting work soon and can't really afford to stay up with him anymore.

On Monday, Ollie starts daycare, and Mommy goes back to work (wah, wah).  I guess the party's over!  I'm not looking forward to all of the stress that comes along with working in lab again, but I am a little excited to use my brain again and have a little more "me" time, even if it's at work.  Last Friday, Mark, Ollie and I went to the daycare to turn in paperwork and deposits, and also to introduce Ollie to the director and his head teacher.  Every time we've been to the daycare so far, Mark and I have always gotten good vibes, and the daycare is literally in the building behind where Mark works, so we both feel good about leaving him there.  I'm sure the first week will still be a little tough dropping him off though.  But, I think spending time with new people and other kids will be good for Ollie, and maybe the caretakers can help us with some of Ollie's issues (not napping, not eating enough with each meal, etc.).

This past Wednesday, Grandma came for a visit, and as usual took some great pictures of Ollie!  I've posted some of my favorites.

Guess that's it for now!
