Week 17 is almost over. By this point the baby is 5.5 inches long and weighs about 5 ounces. The baby is filling out nicely, and is pretty active now, twisting, rolling, kicking and punching. It is also beginning to yawn and hiccup, and is now truly one-of-a-kind, complete with its own set of unique fingerprints.
With the exception of the occasional headache, I've still be feeling pretty good over the past week. My belly has definitely started to really expand now though, and my belly button is starting to pop out a little (which I didn't expect so soon!). I find it a little funny though that in the morning my belly starts off smaller, and seems to expand throughout the day (with food and water?), so that by the end of the night it is larger and very tight. Then, the next morning, it is back down to a smaller size again.
I think I have finally started to feel the baby move! I started feeling what almost feels like little muscle spasms (no pain, just like a tight muscle all of a sudden relaxing) last Sunday. It lasted the longest on Sunday (although I feel like I was sitting in an odd position that probably helped maximize the feeling of the movements), but I've felt a little something here or there pretty much every day since then. Feeling of movement isn't really expected for another couple of weeks, so I'm sure the feelings will get stronger with time.
Well, I guess that's all for now!
-Mandy :)
