Week 5 update

Last week was one hell of a week for both Mark and my families.  But we were also able to share the good news with most of the family, so that was nice.  I don't think either Mark or I were planning to spill the beans as quickly as we did, but we are just too excited I guess!

Nothing really interesting to report yet.  According to "What to Expect When You're Expecting," our little one has graduated from the "soccer ball" blastula stage, and is now the size of an orange seed, on the way to becoming a blueberry...haha  It seems crazy that something so small can make such an impact on your body!  But, for me, so far so good.  I haven't gotten sick at all yet.  These past few days my tummy has felt a little upset, but no where near close to nausea (although, I may be in denial, not sure yet).  I just have a damped appetite sometimes, which I should probably enjoy now for when I'm stuffing my face with weird combinations of food in the months to come!  Other than that, the biggest thing is that my chest hurts (which made things extra fun when I went on a jog today), and occasionally, I get a little breathless doing normal everyday things, or get a little dizzy when I stand up too fast.

I called the OB-GYN office I was referred to through the university this morning to make my first appointment.  I was worried that it might be hard to get an appointment since it seems to be the major office that everyone at the university goes to, but they got me right in.  They only start pre-natal care at 8-10 weeks.  I'll be going in at about 8 weeks, on Sept. 24th.  Maybe by then, things will actually sink in.  Although, I guess they're starting too because I'm already stressing about work, money, having the baby around the time I need to think about graduating and getting a job, etc.  If I think about things one at a time, it isn't so bad.  But I was definitely having a moment yesterday...haha  Since a nice stiff drink is out of the question now, all I can do is tell myself that it'll all work out.

That's all for now!
