Week 6 Update

Last week was another short week for Mark and I since we had off for Labor day on Monday, then we took off Friday to head to the Finger Lakes in NY this weekend for an anniversary trip.  It is really pretty up there.  We rented a cabin and went hiking, checked out the local farm stands (LOTS of apple orchards!), and hit up a few wineries on the big "Cayuga Wine Trail" near the state park our cabin was in.  I think we'll try to get back someday when I can actually partake in the the wine tasting!  haha

I still have about two weeks until my first doctor visit for the baby, so nothing too interesting to report.  According to my trusty "What to Expect" book, the baby should be about the size of a blueberry, has a teeny-tiny beating heart, and is starting to develop organs and some facial parts (cheeks, jawline, etc.).

I am definitely finally starting to "feel pregnant."  I have still managed to keep everything down.  But most of the time I feel really bloated and full (I've been rocking the comfy PJ pants whenever possible!), and nothing seems appetizing.  The closest feeling I can liken it to is when you eat WAY too much, and the thought of more food seems gross, and you have a constant gaggy feeling in the back of your throat.  Smells are getting to me more too, and can start to make me feel like gagging.  But fortunately, as of yet, not enough to make me throw up.  I'm starting to realize though that when it's time to eat, I can't sit there and try to think what I can go for, because as soon as I think about any food, it seems yucky.  But, when I just EAT the food without thinking about it, it actually tastes good, and I realize how hungry I am...haha

That's about all for now.  Next weekend, Mark and I are going camping with some people from the lab I work in, so I'm starting to scheme how I can get away with not drinking (which will probably involve fake rum and cokes), and hide the fact that I'll probably feel pretty yucky, so as not to raise suspicion!  (I still have about a month and a half to go before announcing the news to the world!)
