We are now winding down week 14. The baby is about the size of a navel orange (gee, I thought I was finally getting away from the produce analogies, but I guess not! haha). It's eyes and ears are now in the places we're used to seeing them, and it now has the strength and coordination to wiggle its fingers and toes, and even suck a thumb (which it probably will if it's anything like I was!). It is also able to make breathing movements, suck, and swallow, which is kind of surprising considering there is still a long way to go before it meets the outside world!
Not a whole lot to report on my end, which is good, I guess. The yucky sour taste in my mouth that was around for a few days around weeks 9/10 has returned. It seems to be sticking around longer this time. It's pretty gross, but at least chewing peppermint gum seems to get rid of it for a while. I'm not sure what causes it, but from what I've read online, there are definitely other people out there who have experienced it.
My belly is finally just starting to look more like a preggo belly, and less like a gut, which is nice...haha Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll be able to start wearing maternity shirts without looking totally ridiculous! haha But, no signs of feeling the baby yet, at least I think not. I'm not really expecting anything for another week or two though.
Guess that's it for now!
-Mandy :)
