Yesterday was the end of week 13. The baby is now about the size of a clenched fist and is starting to straighten out (as its neck is getting longer and its head is more erect). The baby can also technically now taste things as it has developed tastebuds, and is starting to grow hair. It also has its permanent finger prints and has some basic reflexes in place.
Symptom-wise, there hasn't been anything new or crazy to report. I still get the dizzies now and again, but when this happens, it seems to help if I just drink a ton of water and make sure I keep eating every couple of hours. I guess I'm starting to show a tad bit more, although it is still barely noticeable to those who don't know any better. (Unfortunately, it still looks like I'm rocking more of a big gut rather than a preggo belly...haha)
I was a bit relieved yesterday when I got the H1N1 flu shot. I had gotten my regular flu shot about a month and a half ago, but the university only got in the first doses of the swine flu shot this week. They are giving it out to different higher risk groups of people in order of priority: (1) pregnant students, (2) students' dependents (kids) under the age of 6, and (3) students with chronic diseases. I went to get the shot as soon as the doors opened to be sure I didn't miss out on this shipment of doses! I'm sure glad I got it too, because it seems like more and more people are coming down with it these days. Unfortunately, the CDC says it can take up to 2 weeks for the vaccine to be fully effective, so hopefully I can hold out until then...haha
Anyway, I guess that's all for now!
