Mandy and I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of those who got us Best Buy Gift Cards for Christmas, which we used to buy a new video camera. They certainly helped us get a lot more bang for our buck, allowing us to pick up a camera that normally would have been way out of our price range. Now we can capture all of those special moments and events that we can later use to embarrass our son when he becomes a teenager. Also, we'll be able to share some of those videos with all of you, right here on our blog! Don't worry, I'm planning on honing my techniques on our cats (though they haven't been as cooperative as I'd hoped thus far), so you shouldn't need to take Dramamine in order to tune in (the built in image stabilizer feature of our camera certainly helps!).
For all of you tech geeks out there, we ended up getting a Canon VIXIA (Model HF20), which is a full HD camera that records to flash memory. It has 32 gigs of internal memory, as well as a slot for SD cards for addtional space. The camera has 15x optical, and 300x digital zoom, and all sorts of bells and whistles that I've just begun to delve into. The camera was both highly reccomended by Consumer Reports, and recieved high ratings from users and other tech sites as well.
