As week 24 draws to a close, our little guy now weighs at least 2 pounds and measures 9+ inches long. While his eyes have been fused closed for the past few months (so that the retina, the part of the eye that allows images to come into focus could develop), they are now beginning to open. The colored part of the eye (the iris) still doesn't have that much pigmentation, but the baby is now able to see (though there's not a whole lot ot see right now!). With the development of sight and hearing these past couple of weeks, the baby will now respond to bright light and noises by blinking or startling.
Other than that, there's not too much new to report. I've been pretty busy at work these past few weeks (10+ hour work days), and the days where I'm particularly busy on my feet have been starting to take it's toll. I'm finding that I look more forward to being able to sit down, and end the day or wake up in the morning with an achy back, feet, and legs. One good thing about that though is that the more exhausted I am at the end of the day, the easier it seems for me to get some good sleep!
The baby's movements are getting stronger and stronger. (As I'm writing now, my belly is visibly twitching with movements...haha) Mark was finally able to feel our little boy's punches and kicks on the outside of my belly this weekend, so that was awesome!
This past weekend we were able to get the crib we wanted at Ikea. Mark called in on Saturday morning, and they reserved one for us to pick up later in the day. Mark put the crib together on Sunday, and with some more rearranging of furniture in our tiny place, things are starting to come together more. I think knowing we have a place for all of the bigger pieces of baby gear is making us both feel a little less anxious.
Guess that's about it for now!
