Week 24 Update

Yesterday marked the end of week 24.  Our little boy is now up to 9 inches long, and over 1 1/2 pounds.  Capillaries are starting to form underneath the skin and fill with blood, and air sacs lined with capillaries  are also developing in his lungs so that he can breathe our air in a few months.  Speaking of breathing, his nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, are starting to open up, which will allow him to take "practice breaths" (whatever that means!!).  His vocal cords are now functioning as well, which can also lead to occasional hiccups (not that I've felt those yet).

I'm still doing pretty much the same.  For the most part I feel pretty good, and little boy movements keep me entertained on a regular basis.  I still get hip and lower back pain, but I think I'm getting used to it, because I feel like I'm sleeping a little better than I was.  (Although, I've been very busy at work these past two weeks, so I'm probably just more wiped out and ready to pass out at the end of the day...haha)  I'm starting to get a little bit of heart burn now and again as well, but it's nothing that a few Rolaids can't take care of.  (Normally, I hardly ever get heartburn, so it was hard for me to figure out what this even feels like at first.)

Last weekend, Mark and I went to Ikea in Philadelphia to buy some baby furniture.  We got a changing table (with dresser underneath), and a little end table to match.  We also wanted to get a matching crib, but they were out of stock.  But, they told us we can just call and if they have it in stock (it seems they get pretty regular shipments), they'll hold it for us until we come pick it up, which is nice!  So hopefully we'll get the crib soon too.

Mark had fun putting together the furniture we got so far, and we both are having fun trying to figure out how everything is going to fit in our one bed room apartment (which we are unfortunately stuck with until our lease is up at the end of June).  We're figuring it out, but it's a little tricky!  I start to get pretty upset about it, but then I just yell at myself and remind myself that it's only temporary (*sigh*).

That's it for now!
